William Phillips

Evanston – William Ranold “Ran” Phillips passed away on April 9, 2018 following complications from cardiac surgery.

He was born on September 9, 1929 in Evanston, Wyoming to Bona Elbert and Margaret Alice (Brock) Phillips.
On July 16, 1955 he married Joyce Berniece Guild in Evanston, Wyoming. Together they owned and operated the Phillips Motel and RV Park for over 50 years. The park has been in the family for 82 years and is still being operated by his daughter Darla, grandchildren Courtney, Brian and his wife Joyce.

Ran enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and spending time outdoors with family and friends.  He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed talking and reminiscing with everyone he met.  He was a great mentor to all.  Ran served in the National Guard in Kentucky from 1948 - 1952.

He is survived by his loving wife Joyce and daughters, Debra (Don) Kapp of Woodinville, Washington; Deedra Phillips of Yakima, Washington; and Darla Phillips of Evanston.  Grandchildren include Tyler Kapp, Marissa Kapp, Courtney Carroll, and Brian Carroll.  He is also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Ran is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bonnie Ritter, Joy Kanthack, Bert Phillips, Bob Phillips and an infant brother Donald Phillips.

A celebration of life will be held on April 21st at the Machine Shop at 12:00 pm. A light lunch will be provided.

Military honors and graveside service will follow at the Evanston Cemetery at 2:15 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
