William D. Lester (Billy), 63, from Evanston, WY passed away peacefully on January 3, 2015, with his family by his side.
Billy was born in Kaufman, Texas on December 29, 1951, and graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School in 1970. He later attended Oregon Institute of Technology where he earned associate degrees in welding, machinery, and gun smithing. Billy moved to Evanston in 1982 where he worked for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. After 14 years at Air Products, Billy retired and returned to school at ¬¬¬¬Western Wyoming Community College to pursue a degree in nursing. After completing his course of study, Billy became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, camping, metal detecting, gardening, prospecting, and photography. Billy also enjoyed reading books on American History and frequently visited museums and historical sites.
Son of the late Ray and Dorothy Lester, Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Susan (Mumbach) Lester; his three children, Wendy Dumont and her husband Dennis of Evanston, WY; Coleen Duncan and her husband Andrew of Las Vegas, NV; and William Lester of Evanston, WY; his sisters, Beverly Mathews and Debbie Welch; and his four grandchildren Raegan Dumont, Isabelle Dumont, Andrew Duncan, and Paul Duncan; 29 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Martho Jo Hunter; and grandchildren Nicholas Leach and Raymond Duncan; and nephew, Donnie Welch.
The funeral will be held January 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. The viewing will be held January 8, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary. The funeral and viewing will be held at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 837 Center Street, Evanston, WY 82930.
