Walden Wilde

June 2, 1926 — March 6, 2017

Walden Nix Wilde, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed peacefully in his home on March 6. He was born in Coalville, Utah on June 2, 1926 to Charles Ernest  and Della Nix Wilde. He was the second youngest out of five brothers and three sisters. Growing up, he enjoyed ranching, fishing, carpentry, and competing in small rodeos. In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country in combat in the Korean War, and spent time in San Diego and The Philippines. Upon being honorably discharged from the Marines, Walden met and married Verna Roundy Wilde in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 25, 1955. He took great pride in building his own home in Salt Lake City for his wife and two sons, where he lived for over 50 years. Walden was always working on many projects in his tool room, including building custom toys for his boys, and being able to fix almost anything that was broken. He worked for Boyles Brothers Mining and Drilling Company for over 20 years, and retired in 1983. He spent many weekends at the family ranch in Peoa enjoying fishing, ranch work, and sharing time with his grandchildren. Walden was known as the life of the party, and could usually be found making people laugh with his jokes and entertaining them with his life stories. In his later years, he found joy in spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren. He was a fan of old Western movies, country music, the Utah Jazz, and the rodeo. Walden will be lovingly remembered by his sons, George (Sally) and Robert; his grandchildren Jessica, Amy, Brooke, Zakary (Diana), Shadrak, and Nikolas; his great-grandchildren Willa, Rosie, and Daniel; and many members of his extended family, along with great friends and neighbors.
Family and friends will gather at the Peoa LDS church for a viewing on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  A graveside service will follow directly after the viewing at the Peoa Cemetery.
