Wade Curry

April 10, 1931 — November 25, 2013

Wade George Curry passed away early November 25th, 2013 after a long brave battle with dementia. The disease took so much from Wade; however, he was strong and determined to the end, just as he had been his whole life. Wade was born to Paul and Ruth Curry in 1931, he was the seventh of eight children. Wade was a very small boy when his father passed away; leaving his dear mother to raise and care for her family alone. They didn't have much, Wade would tell stories of his childhood; the boys rolling around an old wagon wheel rim they found, making a game of it. All of them sharing a homemade sled, there was no snow, so grass or dirt would have to do. Growing watermelon to sell so they could buy a bike they could all share, unfortunately when they awoke, all the watermelons had been smashed the night before the harvest. He would tell these stories with a gleam in his eyes as if it wasn't hardship, but wonderful childhood memories. Wade was no stranger to struggle which gave him such grace in his final years. Working was a part of Wade's life very early on. He started by stoking the furnace in the church for a quarter a week. He helped on the local beehive farms and did a lot of hard work helping the local farmers with their fields. He was working as a ground man of a lineman crew as a teenager and asked his boss if he could climb the pole. That was the beginning of a lifelong love of building power lines. He met his wife of 62 years while having lunch at the local drug store in Kamas, Utah. Hazel walked by, their eyes met in the mirror and that was the beginning of their timeless romance. Wade was honored to serve his country in the Korean War. He raised his family with love, kindness and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruth Curry; four brothers and one sister: Emery Curry, Keith Curry, Don Curry, Jim Curry and Barbara Curry. Wade also lost his son Brent L. Curry (Janna). Wade was survived by his wife Hazel Curry; son Raymond Curry (Debra); daughter Rachelle Christopher; eight grandchildren: Chad, Jennifer, Leisha, Jessica, Carra, Shane, Erica, Nicole and six great grandchildren: Oaklie, Desaray, Chance, Myah, Greyson and Kye; his brother Harry Curry and sister Mary Bradley. Today we weep the passing of our patriarch, tomorrow his memory will fill us with joy.
