Verl Allred

March 19, 1947 — February 27, 2016

Verl James Allred, Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away February 27, 2016, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was born on March 19, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to parents Verl and Mary Allred.  He grew up in Saratoga, Wyoming where he was an excellent student and involved in the Boy Scouts, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout.  In High School he won a National Speech Contest where he travelled to Washington D.C., New York and the UN.  He attended the University of Wyoming, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served his country in the Vietnam War.
He married Evelyn Lee Bartlett on December 27, 1975 in Saratoga, Wyoming.  The marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Logan Temple in 1979.  Together they had four children, V.J., Deserae, Angela and Spencer.
He worked at the Hines Lumber Mill in Saratoga, WY for 11 years.  He then moved with his family to Paris, ID and was employed in the oilfield in Evanston as an electrician.  He retired from BP in 2005, after 17 years of employment.
He enjoyed reading, history, playing card games, road trips, watching TV, BYU athletics, and was a trivia buff; watching Jeopardy every night. We will miss his witty sense of humor, and his big smile and bright blue eyes.  He was a source of quiet strength and strong faith in God.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Allred, daughter Deserae (Stormy Decker) Allred from Evanston, Wyoming, Angela Marie (David) Christensen from Salem, Utah, Spencer (Mindy) Allred, from Green River, Wyoming, and four grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother John (Shirley) Allred of Roy, Utah.
Verl is preceded in death by his parents Verl and Mary Allred, his infant son Verl James Allred, III and first wife, Pat Peru.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the First Ward LDS Chapel, 201 Sage Street, Evanston, Wyoming.  Viewing will be held at the church one hour before the service (12:00 noon).  Interment will immediately follow the service at Evanston City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Wounded Warriors or Disabled Veterans.
