Valerie Kofford Wood passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2022 at 8:23 pm surrounded by loved ones in a room filled with love and comfort after a two year battle with cancer.
Valerie was born on August 9, 1973 in Roosevelt Utah. She was the middle child of Dennis and Linda Kofford. She graduated From Mountain View Highschool in 1991. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. Valerie married the love of her life on April 1, 1994 at the Salt Lake City temple.
Her passions in life were crafting, sewing, dance, cheer and spending time with her family. Valerie valued education both in learning and teaching. She held an Associates degree in Dance and Theater as well as a Bachelors degree in Science Education. Valerie was a dedicated teacher at Lyman Intermediate School and was nominated teacher of the year for 2021. She was a cheer coach and dance choreographer to many throughout her life in Mountain View, Lyman and Green River Wyoming. Valerie dedicated her life to God and served faithfully through many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was loved by so many in the community and was amazed and humbled by the support and love she received by all who knew her. Valerie left a life-long impression in so many hearts due to her positive and inspiring outlook on life. She was a comforter and always had open arms for any who needed them. Those who knew her knew she had the strength, and courage of ten lions but was as gentle and kind as a newborn lamb.
Valerie was preceded in death by her Father in Law Dennis L Wood. Valerie is survived by her husband Terry Dennis Wood, Daughter Stormie Dawn Pena (Dan Pena), Daughter Clarissa Jimenez Wood, Granddaughter Brystol Elayna Pena, Grandson Bronson Alfred Pena, Father Dennis Kofford, Mother Linda Kofford, Sister April Michelle Murdock (Lawrence Murdock), Brother Christan “Chris” D Kofford, Mother in Law Cheryl Wood, Brothers in Law David Wood, Scott Wood (Amber wood), Sisters in Law Holly Hastings (David Hastings), Denise Walters (Tom Walters), and Dawn Walker (Bryan Walker) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A viewing will be held on Monday February 7, 2022 at 11 am at the LDS Stake Center, Followed by the funeral at 1pm. Valerie will be buried at the Lyman Cemetery immediately following.
