Tom Burkett

Thomas Leroy Burkett, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023, at the age of 77, at University of Utah Medical Center.  Born on June 3, 1946, in Johnstown, PA, to Emery Clyde and Dorothy Silbaugh Burkett.  On December 28, 1966, he married the love of his life, Virginia Mary Sparrow, in Norfolk, Virginia.  

Thomas enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all, Thomas cherished his role as a husband and a father, finding immense joy in spending time with his wife, Virginia, and creating memories with their children and grandchildren.

Thomas worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for over 40 years, his skills earned him several awards.  Thomas will be remembered as a devoted provider and mentor to his family.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer guidance. 
He is survived by his wife Virginia; sons, William (Valorie) Burkett, Kevin Thomas (Chris) Burkett, George C. (Audra) Burkett and Thomas H. (Nikki) Burkett; daughter, Amber Dawn Burkett; brothers, William Paul Burkett and Ted Frank Wilkowitz; 16 grandchildren and 29 Great-Grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny and Clyde Burkett; sister, Nancy Deyalmin;  son-in-law, William Charles Cady; brother-in-law, George Sparrow; and grandson Christopher Burkett.  
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on September 26, 2023, at the Heart of the Valley Baptist Church, 280 7th Street, Mountain View. Prior to the service, a viewing will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.  Interment will be in the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
