Terence Malcolm Leckie
June 10, 1955—March 15, 2020
On Sunday, March 15th, 2020 our dear Terry, age 64, returned to his Heavenly Father welcomed with open arms by his son Brady, father George, mother Stella, sister Connie, brother Paul, and many other family and friends. Terry passed away surrounded by his loving wife and sons in the comfort of his home.
Born Terence Malcolm Leckie on June 10th, 1955 in Alpena, Michigan, the third of five children to George Murdock and Stella Constance (Boller) Leckie. Terry Lived in Michigan, Turkey, Texas, England, and North Dakota before moving to Evanston at age 11 when his father retired from the military. After graduating from EHS in 1973 he worked the summer and then went to the University of Wyoming for one year, returning to Evanston for work to save enough to go back to college, but the finances were low so he continued working jobs which included; driving trucks delivering supplies, a cook, working at WSH, a sawmill, the oil field, and he helped build the Chevron gas plant at Carter Creek, which he worked at for 30 years and retired from in April 2012.
Terry married Lucinda Gomez on January 23rd, 1980. Their marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple on June 18th, 2016 in Logan, Utah. Terry and Lucinda were blessed with four sons; Brady, Bret, Levi, and Jemini. Watching them grow into awesome young men brought Terry much happiness in his life. He always looked forward to going and supporting them in all they did, and still do, in Church, school, and sports—being so proud of their success in life. Terry loved his family time which included; playing volleyball with family and friends in the back yard, playing basketball, football, and softball with his boys and grandkids, camping at Bear Lake, and the Uinta Mountains—being an Eagle Scout came in handy. He enjoyed golfing in the summer, and bowling and snowmobiling in the winter. Terry earned a few fun awards such as Bowler of the Year and a plaque for a hole in one in golf. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors in the beauties of nature doing things like walking his dogs and gardening. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Lord’s Store House and at the local recycling facility.
Terry will be remembered for his love, compassion for others, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. He is so deeply loved and we are going to miss this wonderful man so much. Hugs! Until we are all together again.
Terry is survived by his wife Lucinda of 40 years, sons Bret (Emily), Levi, and Jemini Leckie (fiancé Leksie), all of Logan, Utah, grandkids Jaylon, Ashlyn, Izayha, Jackson, Miles, Alex, and Cora Leckie, brothers Mike (Bea) of Pflugerville, Texas and Pat Leckie of Evanston, and many more family and friends.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Evanston City Cemetery.
