Susan Butterfield

August 6, 1959 — July 20, 2020

Evanston, WY

Susan Butterfield, age 60, passed away on July 20, 2020, in Evanston, Wyoming. Susan met her long time Sweetheart/Papa-Bear and Best Friend, Michael Charles Bata in 1995. They loved and cared for each other for over twenty-five years.

Susan was born in Casa Grande, Arizona. She lived in Idaho and Utah, finally finding her home in Evanston, Wyoming for the past 30 years. One of her favorite spots was Christmas Meadows in the Uinta Mountains. One year she spent a month, if not more, camping there. If her older kids wanted to see her they had to pack a sleeping bag and head up to spend time with her overnight. When asked, “When will you go back home?” she would say, "Maybe when winter comes."

Mom would most want to be remembered for her biggest accomplishments, which were her six children. "They are my life" she would say. She was so proud of every single one of them.

Nothing in life came easy for Susan. Through all the struggles she was always the light tower in the dark where her kids could find warmth, and a landing pad for a moment. Her favorite meal to make for her children at Christmas time was Enchiladas. She would call all her children, no matter how far away they were, and let them know she would be making 3 pans of Enchiladas just to get them to come for Christmas. This usually brought all those who knew how well she could cook running!

Susan never cared about material things. What she shared and cared most about was priceless and worth more than any gold bars or diamonds. Her genuine love for people was real and authentic. She had a child-like innocence.  She would want her children to know how much she loves them and would want them to stick together and be strong now more than ever.

Susan is survived by her Partner, Michael, 5 children, Priscilla, Rodney D, Danny, Cindy, Thomas J Ellingsworth (Ashley).  Fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and 13 brothers and sisters, Raymond (Cathryn), Alvino (Delia), Santa, Gloria, Sandra, Rosa, Julie (Greg), Janie, Pedro, Rick (Kristine), Freddy, Manuel, Robert.  She is preceded in death by her beautiful flower Sabrina, Mother Louisa, brothers and sisters, Alfredo, Luis, Elena, Lupe.

We will forever miss your contagious, beautiful smile and your unfaltering love. You can finally rest in peace our light-tower our Angel.
