Sue Cannon

June 15, 1940 — July 9, 2017

Sue Bigler Cannon, age 77, of Legacy Retirement in South Jordan Utah, formerly of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away July 9, 2017 after enduring many illnesses the past few years.

Sue was born in Afton, Wyoming on June 15, 1940 to Arnold and Luella Bigler.  She attended school in Kemmerer, Wyoming 1st-12th grade.  She was an excellent student and had many found memories of friendships and activities at Kemmerer High.  She also attended the University of Wyoming, on a scholarship and later received a Bachelor of Education from Brigham Young University.  Sue was married to Rudy J. Gunter (later divorced) raised two daughters and two sons while living in Green River, Wyoming.  Sue was a Business Ed Teacher at Evanston High School for 27 years. Many of those years she was sponsor for FBLA.  She also spent several years involved with the Wyoming Education Association (WEA). She loved her career as a teacher and immensely enjoyed associating with the students! Over the years she won many awards for her excellence in teaching. She was actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many callings, her favorite being a Relief Society teacher.  As well, she enjoyed visiting teaching, with her best friend, Marnie Hudson.  They spent many hours offering compassionate service to those they visited.  She was active in the Daughters of Pioneers organization and worked in the genealogy library for many years.  She loved to travel and attend the theater with her caring and fun group of friends.  She was a people person and loved to visit with others almost as much as she loved her chocolate.

Sue is survived by her four children Robin Hohenshelt (Jerry) of West Jordan, Utah; Troy Gunter (Anna) of Wheatland, Wyoming; Cindy Peterson (Lyle) of Green River, Wyoming; Chad Gunter (Jennifer) of Green River, Wyoming.  Sister LaRae Somers of Kemmerer, Wyoming, brother, Kennard Bigler (Carol) of Green River, Wyoming, and sister Eve Hale (Ron) of South Jordan, Utah.  Also survived by 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.  She holds a special place in her heart for her travel friends as well.

Sue is preceded in death by parents Arnold and Luella Bigler, brother-in-law Wes Somers, great-nephew Clint Bigler, nephew Terry Bigler and grandson Dallin Gunter.

The funeral service will be held at LDS 5th Ward at 251 Elm St., Evanston, WY 82930 on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM.  Bishop Dave Anderson will be officiating.  A visitation will be held at 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM at the church.  Burial will follow the funeral at Kemmerer Cemetery around 2:30 PM.
