Stephen Schmidt

November 24, 1956 — February 26, 2015

Stephen Charles Schmidt, age 58, was born November 24, 1956 in Frankfurt, Germany.  Steve passed from our world into the Lord's hands February 26, 2015.  Please join us in celebrating and honoring his life.

Steve is survived by his parents: Alvin Charles & Darla Jane Schmidt; siblings:  Michael J. Schmidt of Florida, Julie A. Schmidt of Florida, Theresa M. Gracia of Florida, Karen J. (Pat) Jarman of Mt. Pleasant, Karl J. Schmidt of Mt. Pleasant, Diane M. (Terry) Lyon of Clare, Denice M. Charboneau of Mt. Pleasant & Daniel A. (Vickie) Schmidt of Florida; children:  Jaqulyn (Gordon) Culp, Daniel S. Schmidt, J. Michael Schmidt and their families, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Schmidt, sister Mary Ann Schmidt, sister in-law Maria Schmidt, and brother in-law Leonard Charboneau.

Steve grew up in Isabella County Michigan, attending St. Joseph the Worker Catholic School and graduating from Beal City High School in 1974.

After graduating, Steve moved to Evanston, Wyoming where he started his family and career. He found work in the “Oil and Gas Industry”.  Steve’s enthusiasm for accepting a challenge along with his dedication and problem solving ability allowed him to excel.  He joined Chevron Corporation in 1978, and worked there until his passing, accumulating 37 years of seniority.

Steve was an avid hunter and conservationist.  He spent many hours in the vast wilderness of Wyoming and grew to appreciate all of God’s glorious creations.  Steve also excelled in wood-working, creating many beautiful works of art and holding patents on several scroll saw patterns.  God gave Steve many talents and he used those to the best of his ability.  He was a great listener, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Steve was a devout Christian and honored the Lord in all he did.  He had a gentle, compassionate nature about him and was willing to help anyone in need.
Funeral services will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Evanston, Wyoming.  A memorial service in celebration of his life will also be held for friends and family in Beal City, Michigan, where he was raised, at the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stephen Charles Schmidt Memorial Fund in care of Daniel Stephen Schmidt, 3079 Yellow Creek Rd. Spc 1102, Evanston, WY 82930.
