Stanley Frandsen

May 17, 1938 — March 10, 2022

Woodruff

Stanley Glenn Frandsen passed away peacefully on March10, 2022. Stan was born on May 17, 1938, in Price, Utah to Irene White and Glenn Frank Frandsen.

Stan spent his early years in Carbon County helping on the family farm and working in the church coal mines. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1956. He went on to marry Marcia Carter on July 19, 1958. They had two sons together, but later divorced.

Stan was drafted to serve in the United States Army in June of 1962 where he served in Germany during the Berlin Wall Crisis. While he served, he learned refrigeration. He was honorably discharged in1967. Stanley was also a member of the American Legion of Randolph in his later years.

After he returned from Germany, he used the skills he developed in refrigeration to start a family business called Frandsen’s Refrigeration in Salt Lake City. He then went on to work for the Salt Lake County Housing Authority where he oversaw maintenance.

Stanley later married Linda Norris on September 30, 1973. Linda had 3 children from a prior marriage, and together they had 3 additional children. They moved the family to Woodruff, Utah in 1976. Stan served as the Mayor of Woodruff from 1988-1997. Stan began his career at Sweetwater, now known as Bear Lake Time Share, in 1978 where he was hired as the head of maintenance. He continued to work up the ranks to become the general manager where he stayed until retirement in 2010. From 1992-2005 he also worked as the manager of Park City Owner’s Resort and Exchange.

Stanley bought a ranch in Randolph, Utah in 1994, which became his main hobby after retirement, though he spent most of his “working hours” at the local coffee shop. The ranch became a place of bonding for him and his grandchildren, where he enjoyed quality time with them.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Dave Ackerman (Tonya), Mark Ackerman (Mary), Raymond Frandsen (Lorri), Richard Frandsen, Darla Decker, Kyle Frandsen, Kim Kinross (Shawn), and Kristen McConkie (Nick); his brother Tedd Frandsen (Janet); his sister Jolene Owens; brothers-in-law Pierre Carlson and Jay Sillitoe; and sister-in-law Carole Frandsen. He is also survived by his 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Irene Frandsen; a brother, Kent Frandsen; and sisters, Marlene Carlson and Phyllis Sillitoe.

Special thanks to the Rich County Sherriff’s Department and EMT’s for their help over the years, the staff at Heritage Care Center in American Fork, Suncrest Home Health and Hospice, and Crandall’s Funeral Home.
