Shonna Ann Harris Antonio was born May 15, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph Arthur and Naomi Barker Harris. She grew up on her grandparents, Ernest and Mary Barker’s ranch at Hilliard about 18 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming. Shonna went to the one-room school at Hilliard until 1955 when her family moved to Evanston. There she attended the Clarke Elementary School and in 1963 graduated from Evanston High School and went to the University of Wyoming. Her first job was as a receptionist working for Rayo Barker and Bob Morrison in Evanston.
In 1969, Shonna moved to Salt Lake City where she lived with Monte and Lynette Brough while working for Telamation as a cost accountant. From 1970 to 1972, she served in the Cumorah Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Afterward, she returned to SLC where she worked for Christiansen Furniture as the office manager for twelve years until Malcolm Christiansen sold his business. For the next four or five years, she worked for a Public Accounting firm as an accountant. Later, she was the controller for Steve Regan Co.
In 1993, she moved to Denver and worked for NYCO as a controller. Then Shonna worked as the accounting manager for the next fourteen years for Axis Commercial Realty until she retired July 1, 2010. She loved working for Jim McClure and with the people in the office.
In 1995, while on vacation in Bagio City, Philippines, Shonna met Efren Antonio. They married in the Jordan River Temple in Salt Lake City on May 24, 1997. They have had a wonderful happy marriage.
Shonna had many things which she loved to do. While living in Salt Lake, in addition to working full-time, she did interior decorating and bookkeeping. She loved going to the theater and symphony. Shonna taught classes at the Tony Decarlo Dance Studio and at the Ed Crane Dance Studios. After her mission, Shonna was a part-time missionary on Temple Square in Salt Lake City for about 5 years. She also served in the Young Women’s Program a total of 32 years. She really loved the young women, but she also worked in the Relief Society and ward library in Colorado. When she moved to Littleton, she learned to make porcelain dolls. Most have won blue ribbons in various shows. Besides making the clothes for the dolls, Shonna crocheted, knitted, embroidered, did needlepoint, and painted pictures. In fact there wasn’t much that Shonna could not do. She could refinish furniture, upholster a chair, grow a garden and other things. Shonna loved life and people. She has many, many friends and was a good friend.
In December of 2006, Shonna was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Shonna always thought she would get well, but on January 20, 2011, she passed away in St. Joseph’s hospital in Denver.
