Sawnya Kay Russell
November 30, 1956 – May 2, 2022
Our beautiful Sawnya Kay Russell passed away May 1, 2022 in Evanston, Wyoming after prolonged health issues.
Sawnya was born at Edwards AFB in California, grew up in Provo where she met and made great memories with her best friend, Mary Workman. She graduated from Provo High School in 1974 and married Jeff Adams, they had two children David and Crystal, they later divorced. She married Joe Russell in 1983 and they moved to Evanston shortly after. She worked at a variety of jobs, clerical work, catering and caring for animals…. Mostly she enjoyed making a home with Joe. Sawnya loved to read, watch Jeopardy and her soaps, she had a green thumb and was a master at creating photo collages and crocheting blankets.
Sawnya was so sweet, a joy to be with, lit up a room with her smile and everyone she knew loved her. She will be missed by the old gang at Casey’s, many friends in Evanston and Utah and her husband’s family.
She is survived by husband, Joseph Russell mother, Kaye Christiansen Nielsen son David, daughter Crystal and two grandchildren, aunt LaRae and cousins Mike and Kollette; preceded in death by the late Rex Nielsen (father) and brother Donald Guy Nielsen.
Celebration of life will be held after the burial on Friday May 6th in the Wasatch Room at Knights Inn at noon.
