Ruth Annette Butcher
Ruth Annette O’Quinn Butcher, passed away on May 10, 2012 at Tender Heart Hospice care center in Evanston, WY. at the age of 88. She was born on December 17, 1923 in Savanah, GA.; the daughter of Charlie Duncan and Irene (Rice) O’Quinn
She married James A. Butcher, on May 14, 1944 in Adel, GA. He preceded her in death November 14, 2009.
She enjoyed sewing, Bible study, cooking, and camping. She loved watching basketball, and as a young girl she was a very good basketball player. She was a great hostess and enjoyed having company at her home always. Ruth worked as a payroll clerk at the Wyoming State Hospital for many years. In 1942 she danced the May Pole dance for former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt.
She is survived by her children, Charles J. Butcher (Donna) of Evanston, WY.; Richard A. (Bernie) of Cody, WY.; and a daughter, Jolene G. Janway, of Evanston, WY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Frank O’Quinn (Nancy) of Georgia, and a sister, Jean (Bill) Ballard, of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Visitation will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. ; and again one hour prior to the funeral services. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow services at the Evanston Cemetery, Evanston, WY.
