Ruth Avants

November 19, 1930 — April 15, 2015

Ruth Elida Avants, died on April 15, 2015 at Evanston Regional Hospital, at the age of 84.  She was born on November 19, 1930 in Ellington, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matthew and Jennie (Laird) Nelson.
She married Robert Avants in 1963, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She graduated from Ellington High School in 1948, and spent several years working as a country school teacher after graduating from high school.  She also worked for Kimberly-Clarke for numerous years.  She moved to Evanston, WY. And worked for the Wyoming State Hospital in healthcare, and retired from the Wyoming State Hospital.  She was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God church in Evanston, WY.
Ruth had requested that her remains be donated to science through the University of Utah Donor Program.
She is survived by her children, a daughter, Shaleen Melvin, of Evanston, WY.; and two sons, Sean (Susan) Avants, of Evanston, Wy.; and Michael Avants, of Bear River, WY.  She is also survived by a brother, Orville (Lila) Nelson, of Wisconsin, and a sister, Arlo Sell, of Wisconsin.  She is survived by two nephews, Bob and Jim Nelson, of Wisconsin, and a niece, Judy Abendschein, of Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Assembly of God church on Watsatch Road on Evanston, WY.
