Russel Lee Adams, Born May 9, 1945 to Robert Lee and Hazel Irene Tidwell Adams in Hardtner, Kansas, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, June 15, 2015 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He grew up on ranches in Kansas and in the Oklahoma Panhandle Region. After completing high school, he went on to attend southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas earning a B.S. in Chemistry. Russel went on to work at Conoco, Valero, and Western Environmental Services and Testing. He was a professional member of the Gas Processors Association. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, G.P.A., and a life member of the National Rifle Association. When he “semi-retired” from the oil and gas industry, he went to work at Wal-Mart as a people greeter where you would catch him telling stories at the front door.
Russel raised his family in Louisiana, Texas, and eventually Wyoming where he fell in love with the Teton Mountains. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, telling stories, history, computers, cars, reloading, and drinking coffee with the guys.
Russel is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Yvonne Adams of Evanston, Wyoming; children Bruce Adams and John Ong of Kansas City, Kansas, Patrick and Angie Adams of Evanston, Wyoming, April (Adams) and Rob Jeffrey of Maryland, a brother Richard Adams of Minnesota, a sister Brenda Adams of Kansas. His grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Hope, Shyanna, Kayden, Payton, Hazel, and Delilah.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 7 pm and visitation from 6 to 7 pm prior to the service at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY.
