Ronald Melvin Smith was born on October 24, 1934 and passed away on October 31, 2021 at the age of 87.
After graduation from high school, he served in the US Airforce as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War.
He and his wife Gloria (deceased) raised a family of 11 children: Chuck (Jennifer), Ronda (Mike), Crystal (Conrad), Aaron, Spencer (deceased), Russ (LaDonna), Steve (Jana), Nate (Gwen), Laura (Chris), Twila (Ken) and Gary (LaToya). They have 38 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Ron was an educator throughout his career teaching math and science. He loved the outdoors, and worked for the Forest Service in Kamas during the summers for many years.
The Uinta mountain range was one of his favorite mountain ranges. He enjoyed games of all types including chess and the card game Rook, and he taught most of his children to play. He also really enjoyed Sudoku, Scrabble and Snicker Bars.
Graveside Service will be held at the Marion Cemetery 1:45 pm Saturday, November 13, 2021. A viewing will be at the Crandall Funeral Home in Kamas from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.
