“A gentleman and a scholar”

Roland W. Austin, passed away on April 12, 2014 in the Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah.
He was born on September 6, 1934 in Worland, Wyoming.
He was passionate about learning and held a PHD in Medical Physiology.  Roland worked as a professor  at the University of Pittsburg and taught medical students for four years.  He also taught dental students for three years at the University of Pennsylvania and Medical Technology students in New Haven Conneticut for two years.
At age 39 he returned to Worland, Wyoming to take over his fathers upholstery business.  He father passed away when Roland was 40 and his mother also died one year later.   He moved to Evanston in 1991.  Roland loved to talk to children about history and share his knowledge with everyone.   He was fluent in five languages.  He had been a client of pioneer counseling since Sept. of 2000, had many many friends at Saddle Ridge Apts and the Senior Center where he was very involved and enjoyed it!
He is survived by three sisters:
He is preceded in death by his very best friend, Tim Holgate.
Graveside services will be on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Evanston City Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Crandall Funeral Home  from 1 to 1:45 on Thursday.
