Roberta Hortin “ Bobby” Frazier passed away at her daughter’s home, straight through the block from where she started her life’s journey ninety three and a half years earlier.
She was born July 29, 1920 in a home on the main street in Oakley, Ut. To Joseph Carlisle and Cordelia (Wilson) Hortin. She was raised in a loving home down Cow Alley.
She married her sweetheart Leo Frazier at her grandparents home, also down Cow Alley. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family on Center Street in Oakley.
Mom started working side by side with Dad when they took over the grocery store, the Weber Mercantile, from Dad’s father. After deciding to get out of retail, they sold the store to Ken Woolstenhulme. Dad went on to be the Summit Co. Assessor and Mom became the bookkeeper/office manager for Summit County Hospital. She enjoyed that work immensely and made many wonderful friends. She stayed there until it closed in the 80’s. She and dad decided to be snowbirds and go to Saint George and get some golfing in. While she was down there, she learned to make dolls and she sewed beautiful clothing for them to wear. She embroidered, crocheted and made gorgeous clothes. She enjoyed writing programs for the 4th of July which she did for 22 years. She was also the 1st attendant to the 1st ever Oakley Rodeo Queen. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed her calling as the Gospel Doctrine teacher very much. She spent at least 20 hours a week preparing so she knew the subject inside out. Mom was one of the original members of the Oakley Civic Club until her 80’s when her eyesight started failing her. She was a member of the Lady Lion’s Club. Mom loved waterskiing, fishing while floating down the Snake or Green Rivers, pheasant hunting, vacations, and buying gifts for Christmas for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: Blair (Geneal) Frazier, of Erda; and Blake (Barb) Frazier of Oakley; and daughter, Dana (Allen) Vernon, Oakley. Also 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a special niece and nephew and two special friends Arla and Betty.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leo, her brothers Hal and Bud Hortin; a sister, Winona Smith; and her parents.Special thanks to McKenzie Woolstenhulme for giving such tender care to our mom.
Our mom was a TRUE OAKLEY GIRL!
