Richard Edward Damron passed away at home on January 6, 2018, following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 12, 1947 in Louisiana, Missouri, the son of Norman and Verna Mae (Koester) Damron.
Richard attended school in Missouri, North Dakota, and Wyoming. He was employed by Bridger Coal Company for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He then worked for UPS in Rock Springs and Evanston, and later for Seward Trucking Company.
Richard was known for his stubbornness, his wit, his love of babies and dogs, and of course pickles. He loved fishing with his Dad and his uncle. He was an avid Green Bay Packer’s fan, but loved all sports and would watch any televised event. Even though he was extremely hard-headed and insisted on doing things his way, he also liked to joke and kid around with everyone he knew.
He leaves his wife of thirty-three years, Pamela (Dunn) Damron, his daughter Kerry and husband Tucker Downs of Rock Springs; his son Darin Damron and wife Kathy, of Evanston; his daughter Tammy Hunt and companion Jeff Graeber of Laurel, Montana, his son Douglas Fish and wife Sara of Lyman. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren: Patrick Marshall, his wife Tiffany and daughter Karly of Rock Springs; Jessica, her husband Steve VanValkenburg, and son Devon of Rock Springs; Amanda Damron of Evanston; Allycia Durham, her companion Eric Braunberger and sons Lukas and Talon of Miles City, Montana; Krystal Durham and her children Zebediah, Johnathan, Tieranney, and Astraea of Laurel, Montana; Roy Durham of Laurel, Montana; Jacob, Ethan, and Anthony Graeber of Laurel, Montana; Shealyn and husband Patrick Even of Rock Springs; and Tanner Downs and his companion Amanda Fleck, and children Xaiden, Madison, and Maxton of Rock Springs. He is also survived by his brother Darrell Damron of Meridian, Idaho and sister Debra Davenport of Cody, Wyoming.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and infant grand-daughter, Willow Dawn Lucille Maez Fish.
After cremation, a service for friends and family will be held on January 13th, at 1 pm. The service will be held at Depot Square, 920 Front Street, Evanston, WY.
