Phillys Elizabeth Stevens, known affectionately as Granny, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 2, 2019, surrounded by loved ones and family.
Phillys was born in Orange County, California March 11, 1939. She married Melvin Stevens August 11, 1960 in Green River, Wyoming.
She was a member of the Assembly of God in Urie, Wyoming. Besides worshipping the Lord, Granny’s passion was family. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed writing poems and stories.
Granny had several accomplishments during her life. Among her achievements, she was proud to be instrumental in starting the Bridger Valley Pioneer, serving on grand jury of Mark Hopkinson’s trial and owning/operating the Polar King, later known as Granny’s Snacks and Suppers, for a number of years in Lyman, Wyoming.
Granny was an extraordinarily kind, gentle and humble person who always put her family first. She could always find the good in life, making the world a better place with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh.
Phillys Stevens is survived by her husband of 58 years Melvin Stevens; daughters Cindy (Bob) Graham, Sherry (John) Brady and Julie Stevens; sisters Roberta Mandros and Mary Lou McChesney; brother Dell Ash; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Morris and Elizabeth Johnston, sister Ruth Ann Marco and great grandson Weston Graham.
Granny donated her body to the University Of Utah School Of Medicine.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday May 14, 2019 at the Assembly of God in Urie.
After the service, there will be a social gathering with refreshments and memories to be shared.
