Phillip Mitchell

Phillip Sherald Mitchell was born on April 7, 1938, the youngest of 9, to Clifford (Josh) and Florence (Taunt) Mitchell. He was known thereafter as Butch to all. Butch married Myrle Williams on March 21, 1959. They were sealed in June of 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Mom passed away on March 19, 1994. Dad was reunited with mom on November 24, 2022.

Dad started hauling coal from Coalville to Kamas Valley residents at age 12. As a teenager, he started working for his good friend Sterling Williams fixing cars and was then mentored by his future father-in-law Cap Williams learning body work. Dad loved working on cars and told us all if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. Dad opened Summit Body Shop in 1971 where he remained happily working until he was unable to continue in 2020.

Family was everything to dad and even after losing mom he made sure we stayed close. We have lived, vacationed, and played together all of our lives. Mom and dad’s legacy includes two sons, Bill & Tracy Mitchell, and Tim & Julie Mitchell, and two daughters Cindy Mitchell, and Jeanne & Blake McNeil, all of Kamas. He will also be missed by his 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandkids. Dad is proceeded in death by our mom, his parents, 5 brothers (Bill, Sam, John, Ping, and Short), and his 3 sisters (June, Norma, and Erma).

Viewing will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the Kamas LDS Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am, interment will follow in the Marion Cemetery.
