Phil passed away Nov. 20, 2014. He was born in Park City, Utah, April 25, 1935. He grew up in Park City, Salt Lake City and Butte Montana, graduating from Butte Public High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he attended Montana State University where he obtained a BS in Engineering Physics and later the University of Utah with a MS in Electrical Engineering. Phil was considered an engineer’s engineer because he could solve most problems and fix anything. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1962 to work for Hercules Aerospace. Here he met his wife Ruth Lemon. They married Feb. 12, 1966. He retired in 1991 and spent the rest of his life enjoying the great outdoors with his wife and friends. In 2001 Phil and Ruth moved to Francis, Utah where they renovated Ruth’s family home. Here they really enjoyed the open space of the farm and his tractor. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Novak and his brother John Novak. He is survived by his wife Ruth, a brother and two sisters; Joe Novak and Ann Voyles of Salt Lake City, Evelyn Thuet of Denver Colorado, also by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for the family and friends will be held Tues. Nov. 25 at 2:00 p.m., at the Kamas Stake Center in Marion, Utah, located north of Kamas on State Road 32. A visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Interment will be at the Marion Cemetery.
