Patricia Ann Monninger
MONNINGER, Patricia Ann (nee Steed), 69, died peacefully in her home at High Star Ranch in Kamas, Utah on December 11, 2014. A longtime New Jersey resident, Patty was born on April 17, 1945 and was the daughter of Henry and Jennie Steed. She grew up in Morristown, graduated from Glassboro State in 1967 and soon became an elementary school teacher in Parsippany and Franklin Lakes. Patty settled in Westfield where she focused on raising her family and serving the community. She was an active member and leader for several organizations such as the Westfield Service League, the PTO, the Westfield Boys Football League, the United Fund and several more.
Known for her positive attitude and zest for life, Patty was adored and admired by those around her. She was an extremely active person who loved to ski the deep Utah powder, win local golf tournaments, play softball for the Stingers, water ski at Lake Owassa, work in her garden, and she was always in charge of the fireworks on the 4th of July. Simply put, Patty made things fun.
Above all else, Patty was a loving wife, devoted mother and a doting grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William C. Monninger; her sons, James A. (Kathy) of Oakley, UT, Stephen C. (Caroline)of Norfolk, VA and four grandchildren; Bode, Zoe, Joseph and Michael. She is also survived by her siblings Thomas Steed (Anne) of Vernon, CT and Susan Steed of Stonington, ME.
In memory of Patty, the Monninger family asks that you take time to hug the people you love and live each day to its fullest, just as Patty did. Patty wished not to have a funeral service, but her family will host a celebration of her life in the spring of 2015. The Westfield Service League would welcome any contributions on Patty’s behalf.
