Patricia J. Alexander passed away October 29, 2014 at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston.
Pat was 84. She was born April 17, 1930 in Evanston to Harold and Amy Heward. She grew up
on the Heward ranch at the Narrows in Almy. She attended Evanston schools and graduated from Evanston High in 1948.
Mrs. Alexander married Miles J. Alexander, June 24, 1949 in Coalville, Utah. The couple
established Alexander Auto Service, Liquor Store and Motel in 1950. The enterprise was a fixture on the east side of Evanston for sixty years. In the '90s she opened Second Hand Rose in downtown
Evanston, an antique and thrift store. She was very active in Wyoming and local politics, serving for
many years on the Wyoming Commission for Women. She was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1976 in Miami, Florida She served on the Evanston Urban Renewal Committee and on the Urban Renewal ball committee for many years. She loved to play bridge and was a member of several clubs over the years. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties and tea parties. She extensively traveled across the United States and Mexico.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, her six sisters:
Amy Rose (June); (Harry Lee) Harris; Mary (Elwood) Smith; Mildred (Roy) Anderson; Vivian (George) O'Hara; Louella (Frank) Diston; and Thelma (Rudger) Davis; and her brothers, Don (Florence); and Bill. (Ruth) Heward.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Bonnie) Alexander of Evanston and her daughter, Jill (Fred Young) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Charles M. (Bonnie) Alexander, a brother-in-law, of Corvallis, Oregon, and a sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Calvert of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews also survive.
As per her wishes, Mrs. Alexander's body has been donated to science and the University of Utah Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
