Orland L Crandall passed away peacefully in his home July 7, 2015 less than a mile away from the home he was born in. He was born September 1, 1924 to Robert and Lavern Crandall. He
graduated from South Summit High School in 1942. After which, he proudly served his country
in WWII from 1943-1946. During his service with the MARS task force, stationed in Burma, he
met numerous lifelong friends. He stayed in contact with his army buddies over the years and
looked forward to meeting up with them every September at the 612/C Artillery Reunion.
Orland married Colleen Ruth Wardell on January 16, 1947 and got a start in the dairy cow and
mink ranching businesses. They continued to work hard at this for close to 40 years. As a young
man, Orland was dedicated to the community. He led many scout trips and taught a number of
young individuals in the valley gun safety. He was a land owner of the North Hills Range
Company and enjoyed the time he got to spend working cattle, hunting, and riding a good
horse in the North Hills. In 1978, Orland started Crandall's Crushing Corp. He was the owner
and the BOSS until the end. One of his greatest joys was farming, and he was never happier
than when he was on his tractor. Orland was a family man and always looked forward to getting
the family together. He was known for his honesty, hard work, and a hand shake was all you
needed to seal the deal. He will be greatly missed and always remembered! Orland is survived
by his wife of 68 years, Colleen, his 8 children: Karla (Leo) Greenwood, Mark (Becky) Crandall,
Laraine (Bart) Jensen, Janet Hoth, Curtis Crandall, Max Crandall, Lorie (Dale) Leavitt, and Scott
(Erica) Crandall, 26 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, his
sister Leda Beat and his brother Elmo Crandall. He is preceded in death by his parents and
brother, Dan Crandall.
Friends and family will gather for viewing on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Crandall Funeral Home 105 East Center Street in Kamas. Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at his residence, 2713 West State Road 32 in Peoa, Utah on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
