Mona Riss

Our beloved grandmother, mother, and sister passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014 in her home in Winnamucca, Nevada surrounded by the love or her life, soon to be husband and high school sweetheart Ted Garcia.  Mona was born on April 2, 1957 in Evanston, Wyoming to Dorothy Meeks and Elden Taylor.  She was the second daughter out of six children including Donna, Myrna, Bobby, Lynn, and Troy.  Mona herself was the mother of three children: Dana, Brandon, and Amber.  She was also a wonderful grandmother to Lexie, Kaleb, Cassidy, Walter, and Gabriel.

Mona was a free spirit who enjoyed traveling to many places throughout her life time and was never one to turn down an exciting new adventure.  In her spare time she loved to read and could often be found outside in the garden with all of her lovely flowers, identifying different plants and enjoying the beauty of her hard work.  Mona was a beautiful person inside and out.  She always had time to listen and offer her words of wisdom and encouragement.  There is no doubt she will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elden and Dorothy, her son Brandon, and her brother Bobby.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1 pm at the Crossroads New Life Fellowship Church, 101 Commerce Drive in Evanston.  Friends may greet the family at the church from 11 to 1pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Evanston City Cemetery.
