Merrill Moffat Johnson, age 90, passed away on August 31, 2011 at Rocky Mountain Care Center, Evanston, Wyoming.
He was born on May 2, 1921, in Laketown, Utah, the son of Lawrence B. and Lois Moffat Johnson. He married Verna Piirainen on August 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served a mission for the church in the Western States Mission from 1939-1941. He loved his country and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. 1942-1945
He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed fishing, and loved to golf. He enjoyed story telling, and was generous to a fault.
He is survived by his wife, Verna, of Evanston, WY.; a son, Paul (Sylvia) Johnson, a son, Stephen (Mary) Johnson, and a son, Ed (Bonnie) Johnson, all of Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by a daughter in law, Marilyn of Waco, TX. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and twenty one great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Marcantonio, of Salt Lake City, UT.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Johnson.
