Merl E Carpenter, 92, passed away on October 16, 2011 in the Rocky Mt. Care Center in Heber City, Utah following a short battle with cancer.
He was born on May 2, 1919 in Kamas, Utah to Samuel A. and Sarah (Evans) Carpenter.
He served his country during WWII in the Army.
He married LaRue Wilde on March 19, 1948 in Carson City, Nevada. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1990.
Merl worked in the Park City mining industry and for the US Forest Service.
He is survived by his children: Crae (Peggy) Carpenter of Layton; Connie Lee, also Layton; and Glade (Cheryl) Carpenter, of Centennial, Colorado
Sisters: Lorna Butler and Jean McNeil both of Kamas
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Tim; and a sister Clea

Funeral service will be on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kamas L.D.S. Ward chapel, 100 West Center Street. Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 am prior to the service.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Marion Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home. (crandallfhevanston.com)
