Melanie Morgan Bowen, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and inspiration to all she met, passed away much too young on July 19, 2016 at her home in Oakley, Utah, surrounded by loved ones, having waged a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 26, 1971 in Provo, Utah to Joseph Morgan III and Nancy Robertson. She spent her formative years in Dugway, Utah graduating from Dugway High School as class valedictorian. She had a strong testimony of her Savior which she shared as a missionary in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. It was there, she met her dear husband, Cody. They were married for time and all eternity November 5, 1998 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Melanie graduated summa cum laude from BYU with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Speech Language Pathology and went on to teach and inspire many children in the Jordan and South Summit School Districts. She lived a life of selflessness and Christ-like love, serving faithfully in many ward and stake callings. Her greatest happiness and blessings were found in spending time with family and friends, especially her best friend and eternal companion. Music was an integral part of her life. She enjoyed playing the flute and piano and had the voice of an angel. She was an amazing mother and her greatest pride and joy were her beautiful, sweet children whom she loved with all her heart. She was admired and loved by all who knew her; her beauty on the outside was matched by her beauty within. She will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph and is survived by her husband, Cody, her children, Daylen, Maleah, Mariah and Cannon, her mother, Nancy, siblings, Michael (Shellie), Daniel (Ann), Marcie Tirrell (Craig), Mark, Matthew (Kelie), Jonathan (Vanessa) and Melissa Clark (Brent), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
