Mary Smith was born January 17, 1925 to Mark and Lona (Gray) Hart in Sand Springs, OK. She passed away peacefully with family at her side at her home in Lyman, WY on Sunday, May 10, 2015.
Mary was the 4th of 7 children; Frank , Harold, Oliver, Matha (her twin), Uence, and Mae. She moved from Blanco, OK to Tulsa, OK in 1944. There she met James H. Smith and married in May 1945. They moved to California, then to Las Vegas, NV and together they raised 4 children; James Jr., Lona, Mark and William Smith. Upon her husband’s death in November of 1976 she moved to Lyman, WY. She worked for 18 years at the Golden Eagle and then at the Maverik Store for 8 years. All those who knew her knew of her kind heart and willingness to help others.
While her children were young, she spent most of her time camping and vacationing with them. Family was the most important thing in her life.
Along with her four children, she also had 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She helped to raise her grandkids; James T, Desiree, and Steven Jr. She enjoyed taking the four great grandchildren (Willis, Courtney, Little James, and Kymberlee) that lived in Lyman for walks to the park. She would also tell them stories over and over again as they would sit and listen with a grin.
