Marvin Ortega

August 12, 1961 — July 28, 2015

Marvin Dean Ortega, 53, is now again with his father and son, having passed away suddenly in the evening hours of July 28, 2015.  It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our beloved Deano.

Dean was born August 12, 1961 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  He is the second youngest of eight children, born to Domenico and Audilia Ortega.  He was a loving son and he had a special place in his heart for his mother.  He was a peacekeeper and a great brother.   Dean grew up in Green River, Wyoming, where he met Janie Bryant, his loving wife of 29 years.  Together they raised three children. Above all else, Deano was a family man.   Dean and Janie and their children moved together to Fort Bridger, Wyoming in 1992.  Surrounded by love, and being well provided for, his family thrived.  He raised a strong hardworking son, who was himself a wonderful father and provider, and two strong, loving daughters who have chosen their husbands with the light and love of their fathers example in mind.  In 1999, he found his second calling as a grandfather.  The joy of his life was in his eight wonderful grandchildren.  Each one had a special place in his heart.  He spent many weekends fishing with his grandsons and just as many weekends sharing sweet tender moments with his granddaughters.  With his loving family he enjoyed all things outdoors.  He loved to camp, and was a invaluable guest around any camp fire.  He was an avid fisherman, very generous with his knowledge and expertise, which he was proud to say came from fishing with his own father.  Dean and Janie owned four-wheelers and many memories were made riding over desert rocks and sloshing through mountain mud holes, often times with a grandbaby in tow.  He was a true outdoorsman, ever knowledgeable, and an abundant source of information and advice.

Dean was a mentor, both at home and in his field.  He was an industrial painter by trade with 34 years of experience and was a member of the Painters Union Local 79 district 19.    He was well known and well respected, with an unparalleled work ethic.  He was a good leader, a hardworking boss, and valuable employee and a good man to have by your side.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Janie Ortega (Bryant); his daughters, Misti (Wyatt) Lingle, and Becky (Stephen) Cushing; his grandchildren, Josh's boys: Kayden Bryant and Jackson Bryant; Misti's boys: Hunter Hawkins and Garrett Lingle; and Becky's children: Alyssa Cushing, Joshua Cushing, Dallan Cushing, and Kaycee Cushing. He is also survived by his mother, Audilia Ortega,  his brothers, Tom (Rose) Ortega, Floyd (Jackie) Ortega, Lawrence (Cheryl) Ortega, and Frank Ortega; and his sisters: Judy Ortega, Paula Ortega (Robert Ogden), and Elizabeth Radman, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Domenico Ortega, and his son, Joshua Bryant.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him.  Fish on, Deano
