Marjorie Lammers

January 27, 1927 — October 27, 2013

Marjorie (Marge) Claire Lammers, 86, of Mountain View, Wyoming passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Pioneer Valley Hospital in West Valley City, Utah with her family by her side. Marge was born on January  7, 1927 in Pierre, South Dakota to Lloyd Henry Doscher and Harriette Amanda Wright Doscher.  During Marge's youth her father was a highway engineer for the state of South Dakota so she grew up moving as each road he designed was built.  She graduated from Armour High School, Armour, South Dakota in 1944 and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for a farm equipment company in Aberdeen, South Dakota.   It was in Aberdeen that she met Clarence Lammers.  He would say that he met Marge when he was walking down the street and she tripped him and never let him get away.  it was a 6 weeks romance that lasted over 50 years after Clarence married Marge in Aberdeen on February 22, 1947.  They made their home for the next couple of years in Aberdeen while Clarence worked towards his teaching degree.  At this time their first child, Pat, was born.  After graduating from Aberdeen State Teachers College, Clarence moved his small family to Greeley, Colorado to attend the University of Northern Colorado.  The twins, Marilyn and Marj, were born during the two years they lived there.  When the twins were 6 weeks old, the family moved for the final time to Mountain View, Wyoming where Clarence took a position teaching high school business classes and Marge became a homemaker.  Their family was completed with the births of Martin, Alison and Mitch.  Marge went to work for Uinta County School District #4, Mountain View in 1969 as their bookkeeper, payroll and human resources supervisor, retiring in 1986.

Marge was a founding member of the Happy Hour Women’s Club and enjoyed the many years of friendship she developed with the other members.  She was also a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church in Fort Bridger.  Marge will be especially remembered for her skills as a seamstress and her varied handwork projects.  Her sewing skills didn't stop with making prom and wedding dresses for her daughters, but also making numerable Barbie doll clothes for sale to countless doll lovers in the Bridger Valley and adorable stuffed bears, rabbits, and frogs for her grandchildren.  Her daughters and granddaughters treasure the Raggedy Ann and Mary Poppin's dolls that she meticulously made for them.  Marge was known for her beautiful knitted and crocheted afghans, baby blankets and sweaters.  After her retirement Marge began working on her final and most spectacular craft, counted cross stitch.  She made beautiful pictures using this intricate craft and all members of her family proudly display the pictures that she made for them.

Clarence died in 1999 and Marge remained in the family home, taken care of by her son Martin.  She was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in July, 2013 and moved to the home of her daughter, Pat, to be cared for until the time of her death.

Survivors include her two sons Martin, of Mountain View, Wyoming and Mitch and his wife Sally of Rock Springs, Wyoming and four daughters, Pat Watson and her favorite son-in-law, Dan, Marilyn Rudy and her favorite son-in-law, Tom, Alison Lyman and her favorite son-in-law, Dwaine, all of Mountain View, Wyoming and Marj Moretti and her favorite son-in-law, Larron, of Rock Springs, sisters Donna Henry of Foley, Minnesota and Dorothy Lang of Braham, Minnesota, and brother Jim Doscher of Oceanside, California; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by Alice Spilde-Doscher of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Lammers, her sister Mary Butler, and a great granddaughter, Kadynce Lammers.
