Mariam Louise, Banks, 94, passed away April 15, 2015 in Ogden, Utah.
She was born on February 19, 1921 in Lyman, Wyoming to Walter Smith and Emily Louise, (Bluemel) Tanner.
She married Walter H. Banks on April 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on June 21, of 1974. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on September 12, 1992.
She managed the souvenir shop at Little America for several years, retired from there on April 4, 2000 at age 79.
Mariam loved flower gardening, reading, collecting dolls and antiques, and crocheting, and watching Utah Jazz Basketball games. She was a member of the LDS church. She loved her family and enjoyed writing a few songs. She loved the Uinta mountains. She worked in politics a few years serving on the Granger town council and was chairman over streets and Alleys.
She is survived by her sons: Walter E. (Nikki) Banks of Big Piney; Melvin L (Sandra) Banks of Green River; and her daughter: Marilyn K (Bob) Charles, of Lyman; a brother, Willard Tanner of Rock Springs; and a sister, Marie Lee of Logan, Utah. Also, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and many nephews & nieces whom she loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, Walter and Emily; her sisters, Mary, Ruth, Helen, and brothers, Chuck, Bud, Bill, and Joe and an un-named infant brother.
Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lyman Cemetery.
