Margaret Allen Hamblin, 91, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Lyman, Wyoming while surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1922 in Rock Springs, WY to William and Julia Allen. She married Louis Hamblin in December of 1943 while he was enlisted as a Navy Air Corp Pilot.
Margaret was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions including Relief Society President, and Primary President. She also served a mission in the Singapore, India Mission and was an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. She also worked as a Postal Clerk and taught 1st grade for a year. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, rock hunting, and canning.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Barbara (David) Slagowski; son Allen (Barbara) Hamblin; daughter Ann (Kirk) Copelan; daughter Susan (Paul) Johnston; son Jack (Celinda) Hamblin; daughter Ellen (Garth) Walker; son Scott (Laurie) Hamblin; daughter Julie (Jim) Hickey; daughter Lynn (Jim) Weston; and son Jim (Paula) Hamblin, as well as 49 grandchildren, and 100 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Hamblin; parents William and Julia Allen; brothers Dareld, Lewis, Bill, and Ted; sisters Ethel Boulter, and Helen Allen. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Kirk Copelan; daughter-in-law Shannon Buckner Hamblin, and granddaughter Abigail Hamblin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11 am at the Urie LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held on Friday evening at the Stake Center from 6 to 8 pm as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow services at the Milburn Cemetery.
