Margaret Mendenhall Bennion
July 25, 1953 – March 10, 2016
Margaret Bennion was born the 25th of July 1953 to A.J. and Louise Mendenhall in Logan Utah. She passed away on the 10th of March 2016 after a valiant fight with lymphoma.
Margaret was the youngest of seven children and grew up on a dairy farm in Richmond Utah. She was educated in and around northern Cache County graduating from Sky View High School and then receiving a bachelor’s degree in education from USU in Logan and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She became a teacher, a profession she loved because of the children whose lives she touched.
James Lynn Bennion and Margaret Mendenhall were married June 19, 1992 in the Jordan River Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This union brought four beautiful daughters into her life. She loved Julie, Jamie, Rachel and Rebecca with all her heart. Then to the family came the beautiful and beloved grandchildren. No one could love their grandchildren any more than their Grandpa and Grammy. Thank you Kaylee, Isaac, Jordan, Tayler, Julia, Alex, Hanna and John for being the loving grandchildren that you are.
Margaret was a talented pianist using her talents in music in many Church callings. She was an award winning seamstress and an avid gardener, she loved plants.
She was a loving kind person who had a multitude of friends who will miss her greatly. She touched the lives of family, friends, students, neighbors and co-workers. She was a bright light of love and kindness.
Her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brought her through many physical and emotional challenges throughout her life. She was ever the defender of the down trodden and cheerleader for her family, friends and students. Though she faced many challenges, she always focused on the positive and had a wonderful bright life.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband Jim, daughters Jamie (Tim) Peterson, Rachel (Ryan) Heinzel, Rebecca Bennion, and son-in-law Justin (Suzi) Bond, the husband of Julia who preceded Margaret in death. Her parents and her brother James Corless Mendenhall also preceded Margaret.
A viewing will be held Monday night from 6-8pm at the Crandall Funeral home. Services will be held Tuesday March 15 at 10am at the Uinta View Ward chapel on 201 Sage St. in Evanston, WY. Burial will take place later that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Richmond Utah cemetery.
The family is grateful for all the teachers, friends and medical workers for helping shape and mold this beautiful daughter of God. Thank you Carrie, from hospice, for helping her and us when we needed it the most. May God be with us all until we meet with her again.
