Lula Walker

Lula Mae Walker passed away surrounded by her  loving husband and daughters on April 14, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born on March 3, 1934 to Pearly Theodore Redmon and Susan Lucinda McKinley in McComb, Mississippi.  She was the youngest of 10 children.  She grew up knowing what hard work was helping in the family cotton fields and vegetable garden.  She was an excellent student and earned the honors of Salutatorian. After her high school graduation, she came to Wyoming to visit her brother Cliff Redmon.   Her visit led to a job working as a waitress in a local cafe where she met and married the love of her life Trulon Walker. They were married on September 26, 1952.  It was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1967.

They made their home in Bridger Valley upon purchasing and settling on the family ranch where Trulon was born.   Being no stranger to hard work, she continued to work side by side with her husband on the ranch.  It was here that they raised six daughters.

Throughout her life she worked in many church callings for the LDS church.  She also enjoyed every job she had from driving the school bus to working for many years at the Lyman Merc, the Bank in Lyman, Bridger Valley Electric and for the Mountain View School District.

She loved music and played the guitar and sang for many years in a band and for many other occasions.  She loved and enjoyed people.  She especially had a soft spot for the elderly and made it an annual event to make visits and deliveries during the holiday seasons. But, above all she loved her family.  She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband Trulon; son-in-law Mark Kirk; daughters Sherry (Brent) Goble, Gayle (Phil) DeWitt, Trudy (Mike) Hickey, Teena (Ed) Bradshaw and Kris (Randy) Morrison; brother Carl Redmon; 24 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Janice Kirk; grandson Chad DeWitt; her parents; brothers George David, Clyde and Cliff; sisters Clara, Nell, Alma, Dora and Hettie.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 at the LDS Stake Center with a viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
