Lewis Martin

September 24, 1920 — March 24, 2013

Junior Martin was born Sept 24, 1920 in Evanston, WY, the son of Lewis Sr. and Pearl Martin.  Junior sadly passed away on March 24, at Evanston Regional Hospital.
Junior was a hard working family man who lived life to the fullest and was loved and admired deeply by friends and family.  He enjoyed horses, rodeo, ranching, hunting and working in the mountains.  He was raised on a ranch in Hilliard and joined the Marine Corps on December of 1941; he was honorably discharged in 1945.
Upon returning home he met the love of his life Virginia Perkins.  They were married September 2, 1946 and homesteaded at Heart Mountain near Cody Wyoming where they also operated a successful guide/outfitter business.   In the early years they would return to Evanston during the winter to work for South and Jones Sawmill, living in the mountains and harvesting timber.  While in Heart Mountain they were blessed with two children, Don Lee Martin and Terry Rae Watson who currently reside in Fort Bridger, WY.
In 1960 Junior and Virginia fulfilled their dream and purchased a ranch near Fort Bridger Wyoming, were they lived for the rest of their lives.  Junior split his time between ranching and rodeoing with his son and then his grandchildren.  During the summers he worked for the United States Forest Service in the Uinta Mountains, and in the fall and early winter he enjoyed hunting in the mountains near Jackson Wyoming.  Junior was a hard working man but always had time to spend with his children and grandchildren and seemed to make new friends at every turn.
Grandpa Jr. was a truly amazing man who touched and inspired numerous lives.  He was deeply loved and respected by many. We will always hold him dear in our hearts.
He is survived by children Don Martin and Terry Watson, grandchildren Casey (Gayle) Martin, Rusty (Skye) Martin, Jake (Alyx) Martin, Jason Watson, Stacey (Donald) Baker, Chuck Watson and 13 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis Sr. and Pearl Martin, Siblings Richard, Rosemary, Glenn and Chuck.
Graveside services will be held at the Fort Bridger Cemetery March 28, 2013 at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow at the Legion Hall in Fort Bridger.  There will be a viewing at the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY March 27th, 6pm-8pm.
