Leslie Hysell

Leslie L. Hysell of Mountain View, WY died peacefully at his home the evening of January 28, 2020.

He was born November 12, 1917 in Robertson, Wyoming the son of Denver L. Hysell Jr. and Annie (Rasmussen) Hysell. Les was the oldest of three children, with a sister Martha and brother Robert.

His childhood years were spent between the ranch in Robertson and the mining camps of Sublette, north of Kemmerer. He began school at the Sublette mining camp, then later at the Robertson and Mountain View schools.

He left home as a teenager and worked various jobs as a ranch hand, sheep herder, cowboy and for the Union Pacific railroad.

In 1937 he met his sweetheart Mary E. Widdop and they were married on October 10, 1939 in Coalville, Utah. Their marriage lasted more than 80 years. Four children were born to this marriage; a son, Leonard Hysell and three daughters, Linda Walker, Kathy Porter and Gayle Eyre.

The early years of their marriage Les worked for the railroad and in the coal mines. He then became self-employed and worked in the timber industry and trucking with his own trucks for various jobs. Later he worked for and retired from Uinta County School District 4, as a custodian, maintenance and school activity bus driver.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View.

Les was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents; his sister Martha and husband Charles Tripp; brother Robert and his wife Verla Hysell; all of his in-laws and their spouses; a granddaughter, Mary Margaret Hysell, a grandson John Clayton (Clay) Walker; and two infant great-great granddaughters Cheryl and Roxie Bail.

He is survived by his son, Leonard (Renee') Hysell; daughters, Linda (John) Walker, Kathy (Ted) Porter and Gayle Eyre all of Mountain View; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

As per his wishes cremation will occur and a celebration of his life will be conducted on February 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain view, followed by a luncheon allowing for an opportunity for visiting with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View in his memory will be appreciated, or any charity of your choice.
