Leon Kay Galloway, 65, was called to his Heavenly Father on June 6, 2015. He was born in Price, Utah arriving as an Easter miracle on April 9, 1950 to Kay John and Lela M. Galloway.
Leon graduated from McClintock high school located in Tempe, Arizona in 1968. After attending some college, Leon enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corp and was deployed to Vietnam. Upon returning from serving his country, Leon worked for a several years in transmission planning for Arizona Public Service Company.
When Leon was a young man he enjoyed nothing more than learning from his father. Kay J taught Leon many things like how to fish, hunt, and the value of hard work. His father also helped develop Leon’s natural sense of honesty, integrity, and ethics. A business partner once commented that Leon was the most honest man he had ever met. In 1986, Leon started working with his father directly at the family insurance agency where Leon worked even after his father passed away.
Leon had a big heart and cared for others with a love larger than life. He could charm anyone he met and had a joke or quip for every occasion. For the last three years Leon spent his time with his mother Lela in Lyman, Wyoming. He braved the cold he dreaded to spend time brightening the lives of his mother, sister, daughter and anyone he encountered. He was blessed with the opportunity of meeting his first grandchild before he was called home to Heaven. Leon was beloved by many and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter Margaret (Danial), his mother Lela, his siblings Sharie (Robert) and Stephen (Yesenia), his grandson Lucas and many nephews and nieces who loved their uncle dearly. Leon was preceded in death by his father Kay John Galloway.
Funeral service for Leon will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lyman LDS chapel, 127 N Main Street, Lyman, Wyoming. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m.
