Kamas – LeeLand F. Downard - Our dear husband, father, and "Grandpa Lee", age 55, passed away peacefully in his home in Kamas, Utah on March 30, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.
Lee was born on July 13, 1962 in Coalville, Utah to Manuel Louis and Gladys (Ball) Downard. He grew up in Coalville and was a graduate of North Summit High School.
He was a true "Cowboy" in every sense of the word. He loved to rodeo, ride, and train his horses and was as "Stubborn" as the mules he loved to ride. He enjoyed fishing and packing trips with his son Jake, grandson Hayden, and best friend and brother Marvin. He loved watching old western movies, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, "Go Pack Go", and spending time with his 7 grandsons who he loved dearly.
Lee was the hardest worker ever known and was still working right up to the end. He never left a job unfinished. He worked in the construction industry for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator and most recently as a field supervisor. He was employed by Geary Construction and W. W. Clyde where he had many co-workers and colleagues that he considered his family. Thanks to all of you for being such a support and friend to him.
Lee leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Becky, his loving daughter Christiane Blonquist, son Jake (Lyndsay) Downard, and 7 grandsons Hayden, Wyatt, Karson, Bryson, Heston, Taylor, and Jordy. All of whom he adored and was so proud to be their dad and grandpa.
Survived by his brothers Manuel (LuAnn) and Marvin Downard, sisters Louise (Mark) Cummings, LaRae (Dwayne) Rust, Becky (Steve) Harvey, and Janet (Michael) Morlan. Many nieces and nephews. Father and mother-in-law Alan and Sheila Lewis, sister-in-law Tracy (Bill) Mitchell and brother-in-law Perry (Kaelyn) Lewis.
Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Gladys Downard, nephew Christopher Downard, brother-in-law Vance Lewis and special grandma Helen Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6th, 2018 at 12:00 in the Kamas LDS Ward Chapel, 100 West Center Street. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm, as well as one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Marion Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Intermountain Homecare and Hospice and especially to Audrey for her love and compassion to our family.
