Lee Ann Johnson

Lee Ann Johnson,78, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on July 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. Although she was a long-time resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Francis, Utah, she had recently relocated to Riverton, Utah. 

Lee Ann Perkins was born on March 31, 1945, the oldest child of Doug and Carol Perkins of Montpelier, Idaho. She regularly told stories about growing up on a farm. Her children especially liked the stories when she was being mischievous. She attended Montpelier High School, where she was a star student and voted Homecoming queen. After graduation, she attended Utah State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics. While at Utah State, she met Jack Johnson and they were married on September 3, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Lee Ann was a naturally gifted teacher and hard worker. She spent countless hours supporting her family by teaching night school, making clothes, canning food, and planning activities for her children. She taught all her children her valuable work ethic and the skills she taught in her home economics classes. In 1987, she went back to school to earn her math teaching certificate and taught math and home economics at Glendale Middle School and Clayton Middle School. Throughout her life she served in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women's organizations, and in the community. She loved serving others and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. After Lee Ann retired, she and Jack served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints in Nauvoo Illinois, the Conference Center, and for the Spanish Kamas Valley Branch.

Lee Ann was a lifelong learner and reader. She loved being part of book clubs, solving puzzles, quilting, Diet Coke, and would never pass up ice cream. She also loved morning walks with friends. She was a talented quilter and made many blankets and quilts to share with others. She was also a great cook and host, and her favorite activity was hosting family dinners where she got to spend time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Lee Ann made sure the people around her knew how much she loved them. She was a wonderful spouse, a loving mother, and a fun grandmother and her loss will be felt deeply. She is survived by her husband, Jack C. Johnson, her five children, and their spouses: Lee Norman Johnson (Angela), Jacci Lin Madison (Jeff), Nancy Johnson Chen (Michael), Amanda Carol White (Kendal), and Holli Johnson Sorensen (Dan). She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023, 387 W. Last Frontier Lane Francis, UT 84036 (Francis 2 Ward building). The viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the same address and interment will be at the Francis City Cemetery immediately following the service.
