Lawrence Harold Handley (72) passed away at his home Friday, February 28, 2020. Larry was welcomed into the world on March 6, 1947, in Ogden, UT by his loving parents, W. Harold and Elaine Handley, and adoring sister, LoRie.
Larry graduated from Highland High School in 1965. He joined the Army and honorably fought in the Vietnam War for which he was awarded the Bronze Service Star. Following his service in the Army, he attended Utah State University focusing on forestry. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then began his career as a carpenter.
Larry loved drawing, art, and woodwork. He was a very talented carpenter and cabinetmaker. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors. He was happiest in the mountains next to a lake. He loved all of his dogs and most recently Dutchess II.
He is survived by his eight children, Robert (Rachelle) Handley, Lori (Woody) Neighbors, Michael Handley, Christine (Kendrick) Handley, Michelle (Bradley) Swinson, Kim (Bruce) McNeely, Krista Wood, and Kellan Wood; and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, LoRie (Doug) Thomsen and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, W. Harold and Elaine Handley.
A private family service will be held later this summer.
