LaVina Pearl Pierce passed away on November 9, 2015 of natural causes at Rocky Mountain Care surrounded by her family. LaVina was the youngest of 18 children. She was born on January 18, 1933 to Esther Hutchinson Lester of Almy Wyoming and James Henry Lester of Nottinghamshire England. She was born & raised on Hilliard flats until she married the love of her life John Everett Pierce on Nov 2, 1952. Of this union LaVina had 4 children; Mae (Chris Miller) Bell; Lee (Sandy Kent) Pierce; Trudy Biorn, and Ray Pierce. She raised her family and lived on the Pierce ranch North of Evanston until her constant care required professional help and she had to be moved to Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston.
Evanston schools only were provided to the 8th grade at the time of her education, so she finished her education in SLC at West High School. She then continued her career in nursing, retiring from the Wyoming State Hospital in 1984. She loved to travel and enjoyed taking short drives. And throughout her life, she did just that, travelling all over, many times driving herself.
LaVina was known to be a caring and giving person, many times giving food and money even when she struggled herself. At any time she could be found helping a family member with whatever they needed at the time. LaVina enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and sewing. Her lifetime was spent on ranches working hard to provide a good life for her family.
She is survived by all 4 of her children and their spouses, 9 grandkids, 28 great grand kids, & 3 great -great grand kids. She was preceded in death by both her parents, 16 siblings, 1 grandchild (Clayton) and 1 great grandchild (Fiona Kai).
Per her wishes there will be only one viewing before the funeral at Crandall Funeral Home on November 16th, 2015 at 10 am, services at 11 am. Interment will follow at the Evanston Cemetery next to the love of her life John.
Tears are God’s gift to us. Our holy water. They heal us as they flow.
