Keith LaVar Putnam, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in Evanston, WY. LaVar was born on February 16, 1942 in Murray, Utah.
LaVar grew up in Woodruff, Utah where he attended elementary school and graduated from South Rich High in Randolph, Utah. He was the guard on the basketball team. He spent the summers working on the family ranch up Woodruff creek.
He met his high school sweetheart Elva Hatch and they got married in Randolph on June 2, 1961. They lived in Woodruff for a few years before purchasing the ranch on the bear river near the crawford mountains. This is where they raised their two sons, Bryant and Larry.
As a family they enjoyed the ranching life. They employed several teenage boys thru the summer on the ranch. The boys enjoyed fishing on the river and riding motorbikes.
He is survived by his wife, Elva H. Putnam; sons Bryant (Jana) Putnam and Larry (Carey) Putnam; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a brother Lanny (Kathy) Putnam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Erma Putnam and a sister, Myrna Holman.
A viewing will be Friday May 3, 2024, 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Woodruff LDS Church. Graveside services will be at noon at Woodruff Cemetery.
