EVANSTON-Katherine Jackson Keyes, 94, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Evanston.
She was born in Randolph, Utah July 13, 1922 to the late Lennel and Margaret Ann Scott Jackson.
Kate was a loving mother and dedicated wife. She loved being with her children and grandchildren in their activities, like swimming, football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and motorcycle racing.
She was involved in Boy Scouts as much as her husband, spending her summers at Camp New Fork.
She loved to bake. She made the best peanut butter fudge, raisin nut nibbles, and the best shrimp spread. She loved to ride snowmobiles. Kate was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a Primary Teacher, Compassionate Service in Relief Society, Den Leader in Cub Scouts, and cooked for Young Women at Camp New Fork. She served on the Second Ward Building Fund Catering Service and was a dedicated Visiting Teacher. Her greatest love was being a mother & grandmother.
Katherine is survived by six children, Linda Keyes, Margaret A. (Glen) Turnbow, Elsie L. (Jay) Crompton, Ted A. (Dianne) Keyes, Andy (Ginger) Keyes and Eddie (Lisa) Keyes. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Ted Elmo Keyes; her parents; three sisters, Darlene Jackson, Elsie Krambule and Lucille Brough; two brothers: Richard Jackson and Scott Jackson, a grandson, Jason Crompton and a great granddaughter, Harper C.D. Keyes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday December 15, 2016 at the LDS Ward Chapel on Oak and Elm Streets in Evanston.
Viewing will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Crandall Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Evanston City Cemetery.
