Karen Abel

Karen Rose Abel passed away October 5, 2016 at her home in Lyman surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 30, 1945 in Ebensburg, PA to Ferd A. and Margaret Mary (Noel) Knopp.
On April 1, 1978 she married Clyde W. Abel Sr. in Phoenix, Az.
Karen dedicated her life to teaching school at the elementary level. She taught at Ft. Bridger Elementary for 28 years.
She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church, and participated in the Council of Catholic Women, and was a Eucharistic Minister.   She enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her husband Clyde, of Lyman
Her brothers, Ron, Fred, Terry, Ed, Mike, and Francis and her sisters: Dorothy, Patty, Margaret, and a sister-in-law, Betty Smith and brothers-in-law, Guy Abel, Bob Abel.  She is also survived by, 5 step grandchildren, 43 nieces and nephews, and 76+ great nieces and nephews and many good and caring friends.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Helen’s Catholic Church.   Family and friends will gather at the church for viewing on Friday evening at 6 p.m. . Rosary will be recited at 7.
Interment will be in the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
