June Etta Pierce

1935-2022

Our beloved Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend passed away surrounded by family on August 5, 2022.

June was born on June 16, 1935, in Evanston Wyoming, she was the middle child of two brothers (Jack and Billy) and two sisters (Emily and Marilyn).

June had seven beautiful daughters; Colleen, Pauline, Susan, Nancy, Annette, Linda, and Crystal; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was fortunate enough to experience five generations of family. She loved her family and cherished every moment that she could spend with all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. It brought her great joy and happiness when she would get surprise visits from family.

June lived her whole life in Evanston, her dad worked for the Railroad, and she developed a love for trains at a very young age. Every chance she got; she would ride the train with him. She shared her love of trains with her family and passed on the tradition of taking her children and grandchildren on train rides.

She loved to bake and share goodies with family and friends. In her earlier years she was known as the Queen of Christmas Baking, for her cookies and fruit cakes that she made for family and friends. Everyone saved their shoe boxes and brought them to her after Thanksgiving so that she could fill them up with all the tasty cookies and fruit cakes she made for the holidays. She shared the joy of Christmas through her home-made gifts.

She loved to dance the polka and listen to the oldies but goodies. Back in the day when there were dance halls, you would see her out there ‘Cuttin a Rug’. After the times changed and the halls closed, she found a new way to enjoy her dancing with the Polka Joe and Molly B shows. Every Saturday night she would sing and dance around the house. Dancing made her laugh, and she believed that a good laugh could cure anything, and “Good Ole Elbow Grease” would take care of the rest.

In her later years she developed a passion for gardening, she had over thirty colors of roses and the tallest hollyhocks you have ever seen. When family and friends came over, she would get so excited to show off her beautiful yard. It brought her great joy to tell you the names of each flower. Her flowers were her prize possession, she even received the Green Thumb Award for her gorgeous yard!

She was a ‘Tough Old sweet lady’, a hard worker with a big heart!

She raised seven girls to be strong and independent. She lived life to the fullest, and on her own terms. She sprinkled the lives of many with her funny life quotes and the little things she did to bring a smile to your face. She was kind, generous and loved everyone, she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She made the world a better place, we were so lucky to have had such an amazing inspiring person in our lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Etta Cook; sisters Emily and Marilyn; a daughter Pauline and her two children Niki and James and many other loved ones.

We were blessed to have known a real-life angel, we hope as you went to heaven your tucked wings came out and you soared to meet all your family and friends who were waiting to see you.

Rest in peace Wonder Woman!
