Judy Hankin

Judith Ann Hankin passed away at Evanston Hospital on August 24, 2022 after a brief illness.

Judy was born September 17, 1946 in Kemmerer, WY to David and Connie Nelson.  She was the oldest of six children born.  Judy graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1965.  Soon after she married Barry Hankin and they lived in the Kemmerer-Diamondville area.  During their marriage they had two sons, Barry Lee Hankin and Parrish Andrew Hankin.  They later divorced.

Judy always helped her mother cook, clean and do housework which included making occasional special meals for all the herders working for the family’s sheep business and also for haying crews in the summer.

She was an avid hunter and would fill her own game tags.  Judy was a good cook and at one point in her life that included knowing how to successfully cook anything on a wood burning stove.  Judy also loved going to the movies and would save her allowance to be able to go.  She loved to read and was always reading a book.

Judy worked for the Kemmerer School District and for Wyoming National Bank.  Judy loved to sew and would sew for herself and for her grandchildren.  She moved to Phoenix, AZ in the early 80’s and worked for the City of Phoenix and also for a pharmaceutical company; but returned to live in Evanston, WY in the early 2000’s and worked at Walmart for several years until she retired.  Judy loved to travel and went on a cruise through the Panama Canal a few years ago.

Judy is survived by her son, Parrish Hankin (Andrea) of Evanston, WY, grand-daughter Heather Hankin (Jeremy Hunn) and great grandson Atlas Hunn of Ridgecrest, CA, grandson John Hankin of The Bronx, NY, sister Linda (Orval) Taylor of Comfort, TX, brothers Dave (Jeanne) Nelson and Mike (Vickie) Nelson both of Kemmerer, WY, and several nieces, nephews cousins and aunts.  Judy is preceded in death by her son Barry Lee Hankin, her parents Dave and Connie Nelson and two brothers who died in infancy.

Judy was always a kind and thoughtful person who loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and family members very much.  She will always be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Interment will be in the Kemmerer Cemetery.  A private ceremony will be held with close family members only.
